Teresa Fisher comes to the WIAA with more
than twenty-five years experience in the educational field.
She was a teacher, coach and high school athletic/activities
administrator. As an assistant executive director, Fisher oversees
dance and drill, gymnastics, cross country and track and field. In
addition, she helps with student eligibility, medical aspects and will
work with the Washington State Athletic Administrators Association.
Fisher grew up in
Minnesota,
where she graduated from
Bemidji
State
University.
She initially taught in
Minneapolis
but educational career opportunities took her to
Fairbanks,
Alaska.
She continued her career at North Pole High School in teaching, coaching
and athletic/activities administration for the next twenty-one years.
Fisher received her CAA certification from the NIAAA in 2000.
Fisher’s educational experiences have
included teaching biology, health and physical education. Her
coaching assignments have included track and field, cross country,
softball, tennis, volleyball, basketball and cheerleading.
As
an athletic administrator, she served as the Region VI Representative on
the Alaska Schools Activities Association Executive Board for five
years. She held offices of president and vice-president during her
tenure. Fisher was honored as
Alaska’s
Athletic Director of the year in 2002. In 2003, she served on the
National Federation Hockey rules committee.
Teresa, a sport enthusiast, personally
keeps active in running, golf, hockey and tennis. She also enjoys
traveling and spending time with her two daughters and their families,
especially granddaughter Lillian.
